Starbucks has teamed up with England football captain Harry Kane to introduce a new beverage, ‘Harry’s Flat White’, aiming to support mental health initiatives across England. The drink, inspired by Kane’s personal coffee preference, combines sugar-free vanilla syrup, a double shot of Starbucks’ signature espresso roast, and oat milk. It will be available in Starbucks stores throughout England from 13 March until 30 April 2025, while stocks last.
For every ‘Harry’s Flat White’ sold, Starbucks will donate 25p to the Harry Kane Foundation (HKF). These funds are earmarked for HKF’s charity partners, Mental Health Innovations and Bounce Forward, to bolster mental wellbeing initiatives nationwide. This contribution builds upon Starbucks’ existing £500,000 donation to the foundation, reinforcing a shared commitment to transforming perceptions of mental health in England.
Harry Kane’s Commitment to Mental Health
Launched on World Mental Health Day in October 2022, the Harry Kane Foundation seeks to normalise conversations around mental health, tackle stigma, and promote positive habits for emotional wellbeing. Kane, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, has been actively involved in various initiatives to support this cause.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration, Kane said:
“Grabbing a coffee has always been an essential part of my daily routine. Sometimes it’s first thing before training, before a match or when I’m relaxing with friends and family. Whenever I want a coffee I choose a flat white; it’s part of my routine and it helps me prepare.
Football is about dedication, and I take my preparation very seriously; that is something I pride myself on. But those moments off the pitch, connecting with people, socialising and chatting with my teammates have always been important to me.
That’s why I’m so excited to launch Harry’s Flat White in partnership with Starbucks. With 25p from each purchase going directly to charities that support mental health, we’re creating more opportunities for people to connect, talk, and support each other in meaningful ways.”
Supporting Mental Health Initiatives
The funds raised from ‘Harry’s Flat White’ will support several key initiatives:
- Bounce Forward: This national charity equips teachers to develop psychological fitness in students. With HKF’s support, over 60 additional secondary schools have implemented the Healthy Minds curriculum, benefiting thousands of students. The curriculum includes lessons co-authored by Harry and Kate Kane, focusing on mental resilience and emotional wellbeing. bounceforward.com
- Mental Health Innovations: This charity delivers digital services like ‘Shout’, the UK’s only free, 24/7 text messaging mental health support service. Donations from the initiative will help fund bespoke access to mental health support and provide vital counselling sessions for young people in need. Give Us A Shout
Artistic Tribute
To commemorate the launch, Starbucks commissioned food artist Michelle Sugar to create a portrait of Harry Kane using recycled expired coffee beans, highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Starbucks’ Perspective
Alex Rayner, General Manager at Starbucks UK, commented on the partnership:
“At Starbucks, we believe in the power of coffee to bring people together, and our continued partnership with The Harry Kane Foundation is a reflection of that. Over the past year, we’ve seen how small conversations can make a big impact on mental wellbeing, and we’re proud to keep that momentum going with the launch of Harry’s Flat White.
By donating 25p from every cup to the Harry Kane Foundation, we’re helping to fund vital support services and create more opportunities for meaningful connections in our stores and beyond.”
Availability
‘Harry’s Flat White’ is available in Starbucks stores across England from 13 March until 30 April 2025, subject to availability. Customers who bring their own reusable cups will receive a 25p discount on their beverage. Prices start from £4.00 for a short size.
This collaboration underscores the potential for partnerships between prominent brands and public figures to drive positive social change, particularly in the realm of mental health awareness and support.
