Wrexham AFC has announced a partnership with global technology giant Meta Quest, who will serve as the official back-of-shirt sponsor for the men’s and women’s teams through the 2025/26 season. The partnership was unveiled today as players arrived at the STōK Cae Ras ahead of their match against Huddersfield Town, donning Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headsets. These devices will offer players a range of immersive experiences, from watching films on a giant screen while travelling to matches to engaging in virtual training sessions.

The partnership will see the Meta Quest name and logo prominently displayed on the back of the players’ kits during all home and away matches. Co-Chairmen of Wrexham AFC, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, expressed their enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We’re so excited to welcome Meta Quest as our back-of-shirt sponsor,” they said. “Meta Quest allows you to immerse yourself in new worlds and experiences and is all about connection—something that resonates with us at Wrexham AFC. Whether it’s our journey with this incredible club or the bond we share with our supporters, it’s about bringing people together. Plus, now we can finally live out our dreams of being on the pitch without pulling a hamstring.”

Shachar Scott, Vice President of Marketing at Meta Reality Labs, also commented on the partnership, noting that Wrexham AFC’s ability to build a passionate global fanbase aligns with Meta’s mission to foster community in innovative ways. “The Club has cultivated a passionate global fanbase not only through their impressive performances on the pitch but also through their authentic connection with audiences via Welcome to Wrexham,” Scott remarked. “This season, as Wrexham AFC players take the field, we’re proud that fans everywhere will see Meta Quest displayed on their kits, uniting our shared commitment to connection and experience.”

Wrexham AFC CEO Michael Williamson added, “We are very proud to welcome Meta Quest as the Club’s new back-of-shirt partner. Their commitment to finding inventive and meaningful ways for people to connect and engage with their favourite content aligns perfectly with the values of the Club. We always strive to give our community of fans everywhere a team that they not only feel personally connected to but inspired to collectively rally behind.”

The new partnership coincides with the recent launch of the Meta Quest 3S, an affordable headset boasting the same mixed reality capabilities as the Meta Quest 3, starting at $299.99 USD / £289.99. The Quest 3S is compatible with a library of thousands of apps and games available on the Quest platform.

As Wrexham AFC continues to build its brand and expand its global reach, this collaboration with Meta Quest represents a significant step in leveraging technology to enhance fan engagement and player experiences. The integration of mixed reality into the team’s culture signifies a forward-thinking approach that aims to connect players and fans in exciting new ways.

Fans can expect to see the Meta Quest logo on the back of the Wrexham AFC kits for the remainder of the season, marking a new era of collaboration between sports and technology.
