The British Government has announced the recipients of the 2025 Marshall Scholarships, with 36 students selected for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership, and potential to foster closer ties between the United States and the United Kingdom. The scholarships are a mark of distinction, granted to those who demonstrate outstanding promise in their respective fields and contribute to the strengthening of transatlantic relations.
Established by the British Parliament in 1953, the Marshall Scholarship programme was created as a tribute to the United States for its role in the Marshall Plan, which helped to rebuild Europe after the Second World War. The scholarship is funded by the British Government, with additional support from a range of leading British academic institutions, the Association of Marshall Scholars, and other foundations.
The Marshall Scholarships allow recipients to pursue graduate study in any academic discipline at universities across the United Kingdom. The full list of the 2025 Marshall Scholars includes students from some of the top universities in the United States, such as Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, and the University of California, Berkeley. Among the recipients is Travis Chai Andrade from Princeton University, Kaylan Ahn from Northwestern University, and Hallie Baker from Boston University. Other notable recipients include Sarah Konrad from Duke University, Emily Springer from CUNY Hunter College, and Tej Patel from the University of Pennsylvania.
The scholars were selected based on their academic excellence, leadership abilities, and ambassadorial potential.
