Mouser Electronics has launched the latest phase of its Empowering Innovation Together (EIT) technology series, spotlighting the emerging trend of Industry 5.0. The global distributor, known for providing cutting-edge electronic components and industrial automation solutions, is highlighting how human, environmental, and social factors will shape the factory floor of the future.

Building on the technological breakthroughs of Industry 4.0, which integrated artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and machine learning into manufacturing, Industry 5.0 represents a new paradigm where technology and humanity coexist in a more balanced and meaningful way. This next phase of industrialisation aims to create a manufacturing environment where human workers are central, working alongside robots and smart machines to enhance productivity while prioritising societal and environmental wellbeing.

The EIT series, which began in 2015, explores the shifting landscape of industrial technology and now turns its focus to the societal implications of the next industrial revolution. Industry 5.0 will see a shift from purely productivity-driven automation to more collaborative and sustainable practices that incorporate human values.

In the latest instalment of the series, Mouser’s Director of Technical Content for EMEA, Mark Patrick, joined Leonardo Dentone, Program Chair of the International Society of Automation (ISA) Denmark, to discuss the key enablers of Industry 5.0. These include advanced robotics, AI-powered systems, and the development of cyber-physical frameworks that allow for enhanced collaboration between humans and machines.

“Industry 5.0 represents more than just the next phase of technological advancement; it is an intentional shift towards integrating societal progress with industrial innovation,” said Patrick. “It challenges engineers to rethink the role of technology in creating a resilient and human-centred industrial environment, where innovation serves both productivity and the well-being of society.”

The discussion also delves into the practical challenges engineers face when implementing this new model. Larry Sweet, Director of Engineering at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, further explores these challenges in the podcast “In Between the Tech,” outlining the steps engineers must take to ensure a smooth transition to a human-centric industrial future.

Mouser’s Empowering Innovation Together programme continues to offer a range of resources for engineering professionals. These include podcasts, technical articles, videos, infographics, and exclusive subscriber content that provides insights into the technologies and trends shaping the future of manufacturing.

Mouser’s commitment to this initiative reflects the growing importance of sustainability and human-centric innovation in industry. As manufacturing evolves, the company believes that aligning technology with human progress is key to creating resilient and sustainable industries.

The latest series is available through the Empowering Innovation Together programme, with content designed to inspire engineers and innovators to embrace the opportunities and challenges of Industry 5.0. To learn more, visit https://www.mouser.com/empowering-innovation/industry5/
